Director – Central Texas

Austin, Texas | Hybrid

Ready to Lead What’s Next?

The Black Fund of Central Texas is searching for a bold, community-centered Executive Director to build on our momentum and lead the organization into its next chapter of growth and impact.
Since 2022, The Black Fund has granted more than $1.25 million to the community by investing in Black-led organizations and solutions that strengthen Black Central Texas. We are seeking a strategic, dynamic leader who can honor that foundation while expanding our reach, relationships, resources, and long-term sustainability.

The Opportunity

The Executive Director will provide strategic and operational leadership while working closely with the Board of Directors, staff, donors, community leaders, nonprofit partners, and other key stakeholders.
This leader will turn vision into action, relationships into resources, and strategy into measurable results. The role requires someone who can confidently represent The Black Fund, cultivate donors, raise significant capital, lead people, strengthen operations, and remain responsive to community concerns and constructive critique.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the organization’s strategy, daily operations, programs, and continued growth.
  • Develop strong relationships with donors, funders, community leaders, nonprofit partners, and stakeholders.
  • Build and execute fundraising strategies that generate significant capital and sustainable support.
  • Partner effectively with the Board on governance, accountability, financial stewardship, and organizational priorities
  • Lead, support, and develop staff while building a healthy, high-performing culture.
  • Represent The Black Fund publicly with confidence, credibility, and professionalism.
  • Strengthen the systems, partnerships, and infrastructure needed for long-term impact.

What You Bring

We are seeking a visionary and experienced leader with:

  • Strong executive leadership, people-management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven experience leading, building, or scaling a startup nonprofit or growing mission-driven organization.
  • Demonstrated success cultivating donors, raising capital, and developing sustainable funding relationships
  • The grit, confidence, and tenacity to lead a highly visible, community-centered organization.
  • Experience working effectively with boards, community stakeholders, funders, partners, and staff.
  • The ability to balance bold vision with hands-on execution and accountability.
  • A deep understanding of Black Austin—its history, community structure, relationships, challenges, and opportunities.
Lived experience within Black Austin and established relationships across the community are strongly preferred.
